Empowerment Walk and Wag-a-thon 2010 Lots of Fun, May 1, 2010 Huntington Beach Central Park.
Our 7th annual Empowerment Walk and first annual Wag-a-Thon were held May 1st, 2010, at Huntington Beach Central Park. It was a fun day for all who attended. Lots of grads participated and refreshed friendships. Donna Farris talked about the Healing Odyssey organization and Susan Snyder, HO 39 grad, spoke about what her Healing Odyssey experience meant to her. Bill Beacham did his usual inspirational talk and Linda Gaston did the warm-up. Face painter Shana Schmoller entertained the children and adults, and David Van Doren conducted a drumming session as walkers went by.
The dogs made the event even more fun than last year. With prizes for costumes, tricks, and owner look-alike, the judges had a hard time deciding the best dressed and most entertaining dogs.
Thanks to all the committee members, volunteers and donors who made this a successful fundraiser. A special thanks to the student volunteers from Westminster High School. We raised over $16,000 to help continue our retreats and scholarship program. See you in the park next year!
